With Sehrou Guirassy’s (28) transfer to Borussia Dortmund now official, VfB Stuttgart is in search of a suitable replacement for their talented striker and has set its sights on Stade Rennais’ Arnaud Kalimuendo (22).
In the upcoming weeks, Kalimuendo’s schedule could be particularly hectic. While the Rennes striker will be competing in the Olympics with France, his future might also be determined, as Rennes is open to letting him go if a convincing offer arises. Last season, the 22-year-old scored 15 goals in 41 games across all competitions and may be enticed by the prospect of Champions League football. If AS Monaco adds Kalimuendo to their shortlist as an alternative to Georges Mikautadze (23), he could potentially make his first move abroad, with the Bundesliga calling out to him.
According to a report by L’Équipe, Stuttgart has made signing Kalimuendo one of its top priorities for this summer. The Bundesliga club has not yet made an offer to Rennes but aims to reach an agreement on personal terms with the striker first. Despite still having three years left on Kalimuendo’s contract, Rennes will consider offers only if they meet the €25 million that was invested in him two years ago.
