Arsenal’s Invincibles: Where Are They Now?
In 2004, Arsenal completed a sensational unbeaten season as they won the Premier League, a feat that has never been matched in the English top flight since. Let’s take a look at where the players from that team are now.
Goalkeeper: Jens Lehmann
Lehmann played in all 38 Premier League games in that season. He spent five seasons at Arsenal before returning to Germany with Stuttgart and later making a brief comeback with Arsenal. Lehmann retired in 2011 and is also involved in football coaching.
Right Back: Lauren
Lauren joined Portsmouth in 2006 before retiring at the end of the season. He later joined Spanish side Cordova before retiring again.
Center Back: Sol Campbell
Campbell left Arsenal in 2009 and briefly returned to the club. He then joined Newcastle and has since retired. Campbell has also gotten involved in politics and served as Trinidad and Tobago assistant manager.
Center Back: Kolo Touré
Touré joined Manchester City in 2009 and later moved to Liverpool. He reunited with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic and is now retired.
Left Back: Ashley Cole
Cole joined Chelsea in 2006 and later moved to Roma. He is now playing in the MLS with LA Galaxy.
Midfield: Freddie Ljungberg
Ljungberg joined West Ham after leaving Arsenal and later played in the MLS. He is now an assistant manager at Wolfsburg.
Midfield: Patrick Vieira
Vieira joined Juventus following the match-fixing scandal and later played for Manchester City. He is now the head coach of New York City FC.
Midfield: Gilberto Silva
Gilberto joined Panathinaikos after leaving Arsenal and later returned to Brazil. He is now pursuing a career as an international consultant for clubs and players.
Midfield: Robert Pires
Pires joined Villarreal and later played in the Indian Super League. He retired in 2016 and now works as a coach.
Forward: Dennis Bergkamp
Bergkamp retired from Arsenal in 2006 and has since worked as a coach and assistant manager.
Forward: Thierry Henry
Henry joined Barcelona after leaving Arsenal and later played for the New York Red Bulls in the MLS. He is now a pundit for Sky Sports and an assistant manager with Belgium.
