According to a report by L’Équipe and RMC Sport, the Ligue de Football Professionnel’s (LFP) legal committee has recommended that Kylian Mbappé (25) and Paris Saint-Germain establish a legal mediation in order to resolve their ongoing dispute regarding unpaid wages and bonuses.
Mbappé reached out to the LFP’s legal committee on the 8th of August to highlight his dispute with PSG. The Real Madrid player alleges that PSG has not paid him €55 million from his final season at the club. PSG disputes his claims, asserting that these arrears are justified by a gentleman’s agreement meant to protect the club in case the forward were to leave on a free transfer. However, reports indicate that this agreement was never officially ratified by both parties.
PSG has embraced the LFP legal committee’s recommendation to engage in mediation, stating in a public announcement, « The Club emphasized that the player had made clear commitments, both publicly and privately, and that these commitments must be honored by the player, considering the seven fantastic seasons which correspond to an unprecedented investment by the Club. »
Furthermore, PSG elaborated, « In light of the arguments presented, the Committee stressed the importance of setting up a mediation process between the involved parties, something that Paris Saint-Germain has been advocating for many months. The Committee invited the player to consider this mediation process. »
